Project WCLT is an initiative to help orphans in Kuala Lumpur to improve their education. This project is a collaboration by Pertubuhan Belia Mahasiswa Bersatu (BeliaSiswa) and Khind Starfish Foundation (KSF). We believe that, every child in Malaysia deserves a chance for a better education. Therefore, for the first pilot project, we are hoping to help orphans in Kuala Lumpur to improve themselves, not just in education, but also in level of confidence, self-esteem, loves and above all, to become a better person in the future. 

Why are we doing this?

We are hoping to teach basic knowledge in education for the needy children. This includes reading and basic math. Furthermore, most of the orphanages in Kuala Lumpur do not get enough financial support from the Welfare Department to support themselves or the provide the facilities in orphanage. Therefore, we really hope that, we would be to provide at least small amount of tables and chairs, and draw some murals on the wall and hence, inspire these children to learn and be excel in education. On the other hand, these orphans do not have the support system from anyone except their guardian (which normally a woman aged around 50s-60s), and to give a support system to everyone in orphanage is a tough job. Therefore, by being there, we’re hoping that, at least we can be their brothers and sisters whom they can talk to if they have problems, whom they can share their stories at school, whom they are eager to meet every weekend. Love, is what it takes to unleash the hidden potential in these children.

There will be 30 children from Rumah Nur Hikmah, Kajang recruited into our project. 

How are we going to do this?

1. Education and Psychologycal Aspect

For education, we will focus on mastering the 4M (Membaca, Menulis, Mengira, Menilai), School Syllabus, Advanced Learning (Spoken English, Advance Chapter).

While for Psychologycal Aspect, aspects such as behaviour, self confidence, and communication will be implemented along the process of this project.

2. Every Weekend

The project will be held every weekend (Saturday) and go through by Phases (Phase I, Phase II, Phase III). 

3. Project Phase

Phase I    : Mastering 4M, Basic Math and English
Phase II   :  School Syllabus (Chapters)
Phase III   :  Advance Learning

4. 3 Kids per Tutor

Each and every orphans will be assist by one tutor according to the phase. Rumah Nur Himah capacity is about 30 orphans. Therefore 10 tutors will be provided for each phase and sessions. 

This is very important! 

WCLT has just won a RM8500 grant from Khind Starfish Foundation in the Projects for Happiness. As part of the application requirement, the successful projects need fundraise 10% of the grant ourselves to show our committment into this project. Hence, we sincerely need the support from you to make our dream comes true!!

These children shall not be abandoned!
